Personally I like FR, but that doesnt mean much without a dm. If anyone was to start an FR campaign id be glad to join though, I wouldnt even mind organizing one if I could find someone to dm.

somebody should start a FR campaign eventually OK, I'll take the bait... It seems to me that this site lacks three things: 1. A Forgotten Realms campaign, 2. A battle arena for PC combats, 3. Somewhere to go for an instant D&D "fix" after joining (DMs are in very short supply). So ..... I would like to announce the grand opening of Solinors' Arena. Anyone can join the game at Solinors. anyone . Simply roll up a character and reply to the post or PM me for more details, thats it. The primary focus of the arena will (naturally) be combat. Each PC will fight in a series of one on one duals against other on line player characters. Losers get resurrected, winners get XPs, cash and bragging rights. Occasionally the archmage Solinor may offer adventuring opportunities to those that prove themselves worthy in the arena . Additionally, satellite DMs are invited to run their own adventures in the realms. Obviously this is very much a work in progress at the moment but would welcome any comments and suggestions. See you in the arena!

Cheers Fritters. I think this will really take off, most sites have a combat arena these days and it's usually one of the most popular boards. It should be great as a "drop in" board for people who generally play in other campaigns and just want that quick D&D fix, and also a great way for newbies to learn the basics of the game before joining a "real" adventure.
For now: Initially (for the next few days) you can play any character you have ready. If you want to post the names of any PC(s) you would like to use and their class and level we can get started as soon as someone posts an opponent of an appropriate level (no non standard magic items to be used though please).
For the future: I've sent a pm to Hydrodoom requesting moderator access and to the boards and (assuming this is forthcoming) I will start working on on them asap.
At the moment I am leaning toward using a 32 point buy character generation (v3.5 DMG page 169). Since I want this to be as accessible to as many people as possible the only source book you must have is the players handbook, but players may create PCs from any sources they have available to them assuming all participants agree.
So there you have it: Simply post your characters name, class and level and await challengers!

www.3eprofiler.net/3ep/view.php?id=29633Are the stats on this guy acceptable for now? I'd make a new character, except I no longer have a DMG and I cannot recall how the point buy works. I should mention that the class comes from Complete Arcane, and if people are against that, I can make a new character - as soon as I hear how the point buy works, I'll be doing that anyways.

Yeah that's fine Fritters. You can use any almost any character of any level for now -actually it may be better if the characters are at least 3rd level since the fights will last longer (more hit points ), but 1st level is fine. It would also be helpful if players would add their characters Name/class/level to their posts. So: Are there any challengers out there for Galen the halfling Warlock (1st level)?

"I accept your challenge, Galen. I shall meet you in the arena." This sounds awesome. I'll use a 'copy' of the warforged character I mentioned in the ebberon campaign that fritters is starting. his name is Ragush, and he's a fighter. www.3eprofiler.net/3ep/view.php?id=25913

I fought a character Vertex made, and won, with an exp gain of 300, since we were both level one. I used ragush, who's stats I had rolled previous with fritters in aim chat. what is the cash gain exactly?

Hey Vallah, do I need to make a lvl 3 character using 3eprofiler for this? Let me know. Does it matter what setting it is?

Hi Chez, Yeah that's fine by me. You don't have to use 3eprofiler specifically but it would probably be more convenient for everyone if you do. 3rd level is great too, remember to add magic items and equipment appropriate to a PC above 1st level, you can use table 2-24 in the DMG for this. (it's 2,700gp for a 3rd level pc).
Edit: Please note the "Battle Arena" nas now been moved to its own boards. Everyone is invited to come join us ;D
